$1000 Music Production & Gaming PC Plan

Hello! For a few weeks now I have been planning on what components I would need for this upcoming computer build, and this will be the first time ever building a PC. For this PC, I will be doing general internet browsing, but most importantly, music production and gaming. As of right now, this is what I have planned:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($228.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($101.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card  ($221.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case  ($88.00 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer  ($14.98 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Monitor: BenQ GW2255 60Hz 21.5" Monitor  ($107.60 @ Amazon)
Total: $1081.37
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I did choose the Intel i5 K Series, however I am not planning on doing any overclocking once I build the PC. I heard the K Series last longer than the regular series... but I cannot be 100% on that. I will eventually buy an aftermarket CPU cooler when I overclock the CPU (if I ever going to)

Speaking of overclocking CPU, do you think it's needed? If you think it's not needed, then it would probably save me a some money on just getting the regular series Intel i5.

Also, does anyone know motherboard that is equivalent or better than my mobo on the list that is more less in price?
Same thing with the SSD. I thought about getting the Kingston or PNY SSD with were like 60 bucks, but there was some sort of controversies about them. I tried understanding the dilemma, but couldn't. Maybe a TL;DR?

I would love for you guys' opinion on this part list? If you have anything better for a lesser price, please share! However, I want to keep video card, I need at least a 2TB hard drive, and a monitor.

I know this is over 1000 U.S. Dollars, but I was hoping that there will be some sale going on, plus I still will have enough money for the current price, it would just be awesome to get less than 1000 dollars.

@Kopacetic Yes, your first build seems rather solid for your needs. I don't know much about gaming, but I built a PC for audio too back in January. For what I researched (for music production only) Intel is the way to go. As for the SSD, I have no idea about the quality, but the power supply seems enough.

Going to get a SSD so I can install my operating system and FL Studio on there, and maybe other programs that I will use a lot, like Steam?

Thanks! I updated the list.

I switched from a 2TB Hard drive into a 1TB since my laptop is currently a 1TB and I still have plenty of space. Plus I could always buy another 1TB Hard Drive.

I also switched to a cheaper power supply (500W Corsair)

A few suggestions.

There really isn't any need to overclock, it is a hobby. If you are not going to oc then a less expensive cpu and motherboard would make sense.

Better timings on the memory kit.

A different ssd, not it will make much of a difference.

Savings in other areas allow for the 2TB that was originally wanted.

An mATX case to go with the smaller motherboard.

A semi-modular, decent quality psu
