you need to give us a budget for the CPU and mobo

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

It would help if you give us a budget and what do you need first, follow this format:

Budget is flexible, I want good performance and stability, and OC depends I have my current CPU OC but only slightly and my video card slightly as well. I honestly don't Know enough about OC to do anything mager.

RIght now I have a Intel !7 950 socket 1366, on a Asus P6T Deluxe Mobo and 6g of corsair Ballistix and 6 gigs of Corsair (not to sure just now) and A Nvidia Gtx 550 ti video card.

Location is USA, (TY magazero), ok CPU Mobo Budget probably $500 mobo and cpu can go a small amount higher.

A system budget - including storage, memory, case, etc. - allows for a more balanced build.

if you want a new gamer system and got a half decent budget and want to save on space, look into the i5 and a m-atx or m-itx form factor if you like the idea of a small compact gaming machine. m-atx is easier to build and can be cheaper.

semmi modular or fully modular psu is good idea to, dont get a non modular.

Z 87 or 97 are good options depending on the price.

look into SSHD instead of normal HDD

if you can use a seperate SSD for the o/s (windows)

good cooler, stock are crap

if you can afford a 3 or 4 gig onboard ddr5 memory graphics card is always good.

you need to choose the form factor, Intel vs AMD cpu, Nvidia vs AMD graphics, silent or performance can determain case and cooling specs.

colour schemes, preferances to manufactures.

8 or 16 gig memory kits

the list goes on.

got to love Asus components

Those are some great starting points Asusfan thank you. I will get back with a total budget, But I know I don't need a Monitor key board or mouse, but I need 1 new case for the systems definitely want ssd's have to have good graphics cards, min 8 gigs of ram.

So looking at good fast ram, was thinking of G Skill Ripjaws (any thoughts)

2 people have told me I5-4670k any reason ?

SSD I know very little and would love any advice

Video cards Asusfan gave me some good tips (thank you)

For most gaming and general use builds higher memory speeds do not contribute much to real world performance. I suggest buying the least expensive memory kit that

  1. Is the size you want - 2x4GB is usually sufficient for a gaming build.
  2. Has good timings - e.g. DDR3-1600 CL <= 9, DDR3-1866 CL <= 10.
  3. Is compatible with the cpu cooler - no tall heatsinks with most air towers, doesn't matter with stock cooler or liquid coolers.
  4. Has a color scheme suited to the build.

The i5-4690K is the latest enthusiast cpu appropriate for gaming builds. The i5-4670K is marginally slower. If you don't intend to overclock go with the i5-4690 or i5-4590. With a K processor (unlocked for overclocking) you will want a Z97 motherboard. With locked processors (no overclocking) you can use a slightly less expensive H97 motherboard. A non-stock cpu cooler is not necessary unless one is overclocking.

SSD make a real difference booting, loading programs, and browsing. They are well worth the cost. There are high performance models and middle of the road performers. For gaming and most general desktop use the difference is not really significant. I generally suggest an inexpensive model from a reputable manufacturer - excepting Kingston V300 models because the company switched to slower memory parts after the reviews were out, without telling anyone.

Some people will recommend going with a 120GB ssd. For many builds this is an appropriate size. I like to suggest a larger ssd if budget is available.

The most important component in a gaming build is the gpu. Differences between particular brands of the same model tend to be fairly small and I usually suggest picking from the lower cost options that match the color scheme.

Im going to increase my system Build dollar Amount, we play Wow a lot and I have learned that your CPU gets Taxed pretty hard with Sever communications so Gonna bump my game up a little. so lets say $500 max for CPU Suggestions ? and a Nice mobo to hold it cost of Mobo with in reason (not thousands of dollars) under 5-600.
