I was just thinking about the chrome cast and how the fact that mobile processors are so small these days to allow it to be possible, and I wondered whether something like a chrome cast for steam's in home streaming may be viable, without having to build an HTPC?

So I'm putting this idea out there to see what the Forum thinks, so yeah.

Eventually there may be android support for in-home streaming so that adds those little TV boxes and tablets/phones which can be plugged into a TV to the equation at least.

I think it's possible considering how mobile processors are evolving. The biggest problem with game streaming is the lag, you need a good stable network connection, preferably wired as well as decent hardware of course.  I can see the idea of a game streaming 'chromecast' like device becoming more and more achievable as wireless technologies and mobile chips develop in the near future.

Hopefully one day they support android. My guess is that it's hard to make it work since it would basically requre hardware acceleration and with so many android devices out there it would be complicated to get it working correctly with everything. But we can hope!

a dedicated box that could stream from my pc in a similar way to nvidia gamestream would rule. I like the idea of a shield but dont want a long hdmi cable coming from my shield to tv. it needs to be a seamless experience that also incorporates other aspects that are useful on a tv
