Monitor display purple-ish on one side

Go to solution Solved by josephting,

After living with my defective monitor for a few more days, I found out that my monitor is still displaying what was displayed previously.

I was on YouTube watching several videos for more than half an hour. After I left YouTube, I can still see some watermarks that seems to be like YouTube and Chrome interface.

Fortunately, I called Dell on Monday and I got a refurbished replacement Tuesday.

Seems to work fine and hope it won't cause problem again anytime soon. :D

My monitor is acting up suddenly when I'm browsing the web as usual.

Left side of my monitor appears purple-ish and another side is normal.

I've tried replugging my DVI cable from both end (monitor and video card) but the problem is still there.

Running Windows 7 64 bit

Video card: Sapphire HD 6850

Monitor: Dell U2312HM

UPDATE

Tried plugging the monitor into another computer so I think this proves the video card to be okay because the problem is still there.

Tried using another DVI cable and the problem is still there.

Happens all the time including BIOS and full screen games.

sounds like it could be the back light..try to rotate and see if it makes any difference..on the left side..rotated right side up..should keep the purple on the bottom..

can you still see the purple when the monitor is off..?..could then be the anti glare coating..

re-run the monitor setup..from the monitor controls..see if it makes any difference..

Try another display cable or jiggle your existing one.

Thanks for your help.

I tried using Dell built-in flat panel diagnostics and I think it's the flat panel's issue.

I think I'll need to contact Dell's technical support for this.

Contacted their sales department and someone gave me link to technical support instead and that page asks for service tag, which I don't have.  <_<

I've taken some photos while doing the diagnostics and here they are.

I think when I'm using my PC, my monitor blinked and then something being implanted onto the panel because I can see chrome address bar in some of the diagnostic photos.

My monitor can only rotate clockwise. So, the purple stayed at the top, right side down.

When the monitor is off, it's pitch black. Tried resetting it to factory settings.

Also tried another pair of cable, both DVI and VGA. Don't have DisplayPort cable with me.  ^_^

Thanks a lot for your help!

@BroKenFingers

You saying Energy Save? It's off. I have dynamic brightness off.

And this is weird.

I can see Chrome address bar over the black overlay on this one.
