Is this good?

Go to solution Solved by miniME_2011,

I also stand by the 270x as the best card for a budget build. There are alot of games that it'll breeze through, but alot of big AAA titles, it can't. I re ran the Crysis 3 intro mission and only got 79 fps all maxed out. 45-60fps in the rain scene. On SLI 780Tis.

Wow, Crysis 3 is demanding. But, yeah the 270x is a good card for the price.

Hmm... since the GPU is harder to upgrade compare to SSD, howabout getting 280 first then later on get an SSD?

This will probably be the best option. This way he could get a larger ssd as well.

Thank you guys for your help again! Learned more about ssds and that Crysis is hard to run.

It's a good build, but I am of the opinion an ssd should be included in any system with a budget over 600$. The difference is massive, it's worth the extra 70 bucks a 120gb ssd costs nowadays.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Ah ok, but apart from loading times. Would you still get an ssd, even though he hardly turns off his computer.

Well... it just make general windows task faster~ so yup, I would still get 1 120GB SSD regardless

Ok, thanks for the suggestion guys! What would you change to fit an ssd into the build?

Well... how about dropping the GPU to a 270/270x instead? for 1080p the 270/270x should already give you ~60fps on max setting for most of the game

@miniME_2011

270X is a good card, but that last statement....no. r9 280X doesn't even get 60fps maxed out in Crysis 3, Farcry3, Metro LL, watch dogs, AC Blackflag, Tomb Raider etc..  780/r9 290 is the sweet spot for 1080p.

Sorry, my bad there, I said most since I have in mind the normal stuff my friend play like Dota, COD since I just build a comp with a 270 for him lately. Crysis 3 is rather... since even my 780 having trouble keeping 60fps on max setting, so are the other stuff (especially the stupid watchdogs), but at high setting 270 should still be able to keep it up.

So in the long run would the r9 280x be better for him and last him longer? Or should I stick with the r9 270x with the ssd.

GPU is easier to upgrade than a ssd. You unplug it and plug it back in. The ssd you have to do that the clone the HDD and reinstall windows.

PCs feel broken without an SSD, at least for the OS.

I dont mean it like that :P the process of installation upgrading GPU is definitely quicker and easier than SSD, but if you upgrading GPU later on, you lose alot of money for the previous GPU and the new GPU, even if you sell the old GPU it wont be much, while getting a new SSD you only need to spend money on the new SSD, that what's I'm talking about :3
