Are Gitzo Tripods really worth there high price point?

Gitzo tripods are top notch. Super strong and light weight. Whether or not they are worth it depends on you and what you need it for.

There are so many varieties of Gitzo 'pods. The CF variants are top notch, beaten only by the Really Right Stuff products. Personally, I have an Induro student account so the discounted Induro CF tripods are plenty enough for me.

I have a gitzo traveler 1541 cf tripod and I love it as it's tough small and light. I use it for hiking and around town.

When it comes to tripods, you can only pick two of the following:

Stable/tough

Light

Cheap

My tripod is light and tough but it was not cheap. My Manfrotto tripod is cheaper and very stable but it's alot heavier.

I got my Gitzo Basalt GT1932, I just love it, it's been with me for a long time.

 

It's light, stable, tough, high quality... and it's not cheap >.<
