Hello!  :)

 

So I'm looking for a headset replacement.

Currently I'm using some cheap Creative USB headset (one of the Fatality series, it lasted 3 years and still works - yay for build quality!  ^_^) and some time ago I've noticed some weird humming and it just drives me crazy. Also I realized, that the sound quality is pretty bad (it's like Linus said: Most of the people think their cheap headphones sound amazing because they didn't know any better. So did I..  -_-).

 

Anyway, I'm not sure if I should get one of these 'fancy' gaming headsets or just some good headphones and a discrete microphone.

 

If it comes to the head-micro-phone-combo:

- Microphone: I don't care if it's some clippy-thingy or a 'big' condensator microphone, but it would kind of annoy me if I would always have to clip the microphone on my shirt (RIP shirtless gaming :D). And maybe I should mention that my voice is kind of quiet and actually I don't like to yell to my buddies in TeamSpeak/Skype.

- Headphones: No USB crap again. I kind of like the higher frequencies/treble, so I don't care if it's not that bass'ish. Anyway, they should be pretty comfortable and suitable for long gaming sessions. And, of course, sound decent but since I'm kind of a 'good audio virgin' probably everything will sound better than my current headset :D. 

 

My budget isn't that high. Let's say ~150 €, but I don't care if it's a bit more.

 

I hope one of you audio experts can give me some nice recommendations, because I have absolutely no idea what I should get. Thanks guys <3

What ZetZet said and the Qpad QH85 is great too and it's open while the other two are closed.
