Cheap expandable / custom loop for gpu and cpu

Go to solution Solved by d3sl91,

I can get the h320 for $150 at ncix, any thing cheaper than that? Because your suggestion is actually much higher than what i can get.

Ahh, okay, that's why I asked which version. In this case there is not much you can do cheaper.

If you went with an H105 for CPU, then H40+Kraken G10 for GPU. You could have watercooled CPU + GPU for a grand total of $195 CAD. But that's about the cheaperst you can go.

Hello everybody, I am planning to upgrade my build with an R9 290x and water cool it along with my CPU (i7 2600k)

As of right now I am looking for the cheapest water cooling setup i can get for the two things. In my mind I am planning to get a Swifttech H320 plug and play water cooling and add on a waterblock for the R9.

The above water cooling setup will run me around 300 Bucks on NCIX canada. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Thank you for reading.

Do you mean the H20-320? As in, this? http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_604&products_id=36670

You can get an XSPC Kit like this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_972&products_id=38687

It's not a ton cheaper, and will be more when you buy decent fans, but what you do get is

1. An actual D5 pump (that can be used with a million different Tops, Reservoirs, and is quieter than the DDC-Style pump that the swiftech has)

2. A standalone, highly rated CPU block that you can use for years to come.

3. A Standalone Radiator that can be used in many ways (no built-in reservoir to deal with etc)

The XSPC and others like it, are literally custom parts bundled together. It will be slightly more difficult to set up than the swiftech, but it's more difficult, similar to how its more difficult to build a computer than buy an HP off the shelf.

Hope this helps!

Agree with d3sl91, XSPC kits are expandable and quality.

I have the top of the line (not bragging, just fact) AX360 Twin D5 complete kit and I love it.  It is complete overkill, and a single D5 pump/res will do you fine.  Good luck and happy cooling.

Agree and agree, don't skimp on the first loop, you'll regret it and end up with a graveyard f parts really fast. Get a good pump that can handle any simple loop you throw at it and expand from there. Always better to hold off on it a little longer than to end up spending more in the long run (speaking from experience)...
