Ive been playing a lot of DayZ and Arma 3 lately and I have noticed that the fps hasn't been that great. I asked someone and they told me it was because of my cpu so I want to upgrade. I was thinking a i7 4770k or a i7 4670k. I will need a new motherboard and I need it to be from an Australian site.

Current CPU and Mobo-

AMD FX-8320 8 Core Black Edition Processor
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P MotherBoard

I want to spend around $500-600.

Thanks,

It's safer than you think and would really help. I have a 8350 and a 280x(7970) and I can play DayZ maxed out at about 60fps. granted I have a steep overclock. but even a little overclock would help you.

The thing is I have the money to upgrade and I heard the 4770k and the 4670k are very good.

When I play DayZ and Arma 3 I get less than 30fps on low settings, I want to run on medium settings above 30fps.

GPU-XFX Double Dissipation HD 7970 3gb

As far as I know DayZ is shit for optimization. But, if you must upgrade.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($409.00 @ CPL Online)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($219.00 @ PLE Computers)
Total: $628.00
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Well, I'm scared to OC because I have no idea how to do it.

You're gonna have to get a better cooler for the CPU if you really wanna overclock.

if you have the money then by all means do, but I just think you'd benefit(not in dayz because it's not supported) more from a good psu and a second gfx card with a good oc on your processor but if you want to go for the intel rig I recommend a z97 board and the new devils canyon 4970k

His Evo could probably get him to 4.2-4.5 if he has good airflow and a decent chip.

Didn't know he had an Evo :P
