Upgrading Concerns

Go to solution Solved by iamthecpu,

coolermaster Hyper TX3 for the cooler

So, I need to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard... and Im just going to stick everything in a new case while Im at it.

I'm looking to spend around €500, however I can push up to around €550. This is what I have put together for something in the ballpark, but the concerns I have it mainly with the CPU Cooler. The cooler was recommended to me elsewhere, so Im trying to get some recommendations in place before I decide and order the parts.

I've looked at alot of reviews, and it said that the case is good for tall CPU coolers, and that is great, but I want to be sure. And again with the cooler, how will it affect my RAM placement as well as my GPU placement.

Any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated. It is also worth noting that I will be upgrading to run my cards in SLI at some point in the future, so if the CPU cooler wouldn't be a good choice, recommendations are also very much welcome.

P.S. I'd preferable like some CPU cooler to take me back down to the €550ish mark.

Parts Im getting:

-i7 4770K

-MSI Z97 Gaming 5

-Zalman Z11 Plus

-Noctua NH-D15

If you're getting msi z97 get the 4790k not 4770k .

Don't get d15 it's not worth it ,and it'll interfere with first pci-e slot unless you're lucky , something like a nh-u12/u14 would be good. Also i don't recommend Zalman cases, they too plastic man ! The define r4 if you spare the extra money is good .

Right, So I checked out the prices with the 4790k, and its €540 without the CPU cooler. If I'm not going to overclock(Or at least not overclock right away) would I be just as well to get the CPU, Mobo and Case and then when I get some more money, pick up the cooler?

The case will most likely be remaining the same however, I really wont have much more than €550 to spend.

540 EURO WTF MAN !? Prices should calm down once the cpu gets more mainstream , it's kinda new on the market . Do what you want m8 , i would wait a week or two once it gets on amazon and get it for 300-320 euro or so ,then when you want to OC get a noice cooler
