I am deciding whether to overclock or not.

Ive got a build planned out which involves all the high grade components required for a decent overclock with an intel 4690k.

I don't however use any video/photo editing software. All I do is regular computer stuff and gaming.

Does overclocking produce a significant difference when gaming? Any review, benchmarks or opinions would be much appreciated.

You won't see much especially with that CPU, maybe 5 frames or so.

My only experience was highly favorable. An i5 2.6ghz I could oc to 4ghz, which I stepped it back to 3.6ghz or 3.8ghz (depending on mood) for better stability.

My primary game back then was Everquest2 which is heavily CPU dependent, so I got massive gains in performance.

Nowadays games make much better use of the GPU.
