Hard Drive Position

I was wondering if it would be fine for a hard drive to lean against the motherboard tray vertically or horizontally or would it be bad for the hard drive.

No difference as long as it's secured.

 

If it's an SSD it makes no difference if you swing it from a SATA cable while you dance yankee doodle.

It will not matter where you put the hard drive as long as you secure it to avoid it falling over.

Velcro works well, as does electric tape if you don't care about the looks too much.

Hmm, I wouldn't put it there myself unless I had fashioned some kind of bracket or tray to hold it in place, I'd say as long as you secure it so that it feels sturdy to the hand you should be ok.
