Hey guys, I am planning a new build and wanted some opinions on the spec list plan.

The main use of the PC will be high end audio composition with projects containing as much as 100 tracks using some fairly ram intensive samples, as well as a side of gaming.

Currently the plan is:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA2011

CPU: Intel i7 4820k

RAM: G Skill Ripjaws X 1600mhz CL9 (32/62GB)

PSU: Corsair AX860i

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i

GPU: Nvidia 780 (possibly will downgrade to 770 as I have heard the 800 series will be cheaper than the 700 series and out the end of this year)

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Fan Control: NZXT Sentry 2

I am kind of stuck on what case fans to get. I like the idea of either a green or purple colour scheme but with occasionally recording live audio ideally I need it to be fairly quiet, and I do not yet have enough experience to install water cooling.

Any advice on components, especially from people who use their builds for music production would be appreciated!

Thanks! :)

why not build your pc around the new noctua industrials? since you're only doing light gaming why not r9 290 or 280x (dunno if you need cuda though) and than have enough for a 4770k

My Little Gaming Rig:

CPU: FX 8320 | MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-D3P | RAM: G.Skill Ares 2x4GB | GPU: Sapphire Dual-X R9 270X | Storage: Seagate SSHD 1TB | Case: Corsair 200R | PSU: CM 550W V-Series

Upgrades to come: CPU FAN: Corsair H100i | RAM: 2 more 4GB sticks | GPU: Another R9 270X running in crossfire | Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD | PSU: Corsair 800w

I definitely am interested with the new Noctuas and that is what I was thinking. As far as the 4770k goes, as far as I know the 4820k would be a better bet for me for the lower temps and over clock capability, especially as they are pretty cheap lately. Though I am tempted to do as H4X3R has suggested and go up to the 4930k instead.
