I was asked to configure a network in a house where computers around the house are able to access two different printers and some files both wired and wirelessly.

Current setup is as follows: rogers cable coming into into cisco dpc3825 modem, one cable from the modem goes into a 16 port gigabit splitter. Other 11 ports are connected to the Ethernet ports which spread out throughout the house. One of the is occupied by an apple airport extreme which creates wireless access.

I thought I would set airport express to operate in bridge mode, having the modem assign the IP addresses. But when I do the wirelessly connected devices cannot get an IP address.

Also, I could connect to the Rogers modem setup page. 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or other combination would give cannot connect page. Ipv4 default gateway was 99.(something), connecting to which gave the same result.

Any ideas on how to approach this problem and unify all computers and devices?

Thanks to all :P

Thank you for your reply

would it work if some devices are connecting wirelessly to the apple router, while others are connected directly to the rogers modem?

That is basically my whole question.

I assumed no, and wanted to make apple router work in bridge mode, to act as an access point so only the rogers modem assigns IP addresses.

networks are not my thing so i might be mistaken.

And yes, android phones can see shared drives on the network, as i have that set up on my network.
