My brother asked me if I know how to stream video over multiple network switches and I have no idea how to do it.

He has a Stream Server on one Network Switch and it's fine for all of the machines connected to that switch but when he try's to access the stream on another Network Switch he can't get it to work.

Each switch has 48 connections and are able to talk to each other but the second switch doesn't talk to the first for some reason even though the Network Switch has the specification to do so.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Can you please be more descriptive of the network topography? A diagram will suffice.

Btw, my first thought as to the issue might be related to having different subnets if the switched are managed.

I will have to ask him for more details. It is a Tier 3 Sisco Network Switch and from what I understand is he has a Media Stream Server on Network 1 and 3 more networks using network switchs for each floor of the building. He can stream on the same network as the server but he can't get it to cross Network Switchs and all simultaneously stream video.

Do you mean Layer 3 Cisco switch also it's unlikely it's a full Layer 3 switch as the full Layer 3 Cisco switches are in the thousands due to them running IOS but you are still able to do this. http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/lan-switching/inter-vlan-routing/41860-howto-L3-intervlanrouting.html

Yeah Layer 3 Cisco, he told me it's a issue to do with VLAN's that are running on Network Switchs that's the problem. He said that he's being asked to update his licence which is £1000 and the Switch's already have the option built in but it's showing up as disabled.
