Hey guys so a friend of mine wants to set up a video/screen capture set up. Now i helped him with the software and everything, but he wants to set up an audio set up. This is where i lack in experience. I have no idea what type of microphone he should use or what types of connectors and how to connect it to his computer using a amp and what not. He wants to use a boom mic and doesn't really want to spend WAY to much but he is willing to spend money. He has a blue mic but i don't think you can hook that up to a boom mic so what type of mic should he get? He has room mates and what not so if you all could suggest a mic that will pick up noise that is close to the mic not down the hallway hahaha. Thanks guys

P.S.: He is recording tutorials for a company its like a how to do things type thing and i have been recommended this mic http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT2020-USB-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B001AS6OYC but should i go with this one (the usb) or the one with http://www.amazon.com/Technica-AT2020-Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B0006H92QK.

There are mounting mechanisms for the USB version to be mounted on a boom stand however you then have an issue with the length of the USB cable. How much do you want to spend to get all up because you will need a USB interface to record using the non-USB version which uses XLR.
