Hey guys I have a Acer Aspire m1201. I have updated the CPU Cooler to a Hyper 212 EVO and change the Graphics card to a Radeon HD 5450. I know its not going to be ideal to over clock but I am planning to build a new pc soon and was wondering if I can or should over clock?

I have never over clocked before so I would also need to know how. I'm not looking for massive overclocking just some small stuff to give small performance increases.

It's not necessary, build a PC first and worry about it later.

The Aspire can't really be overclocked. The bios has the features locked.

As for the new PC: it can help, but it's not necessary. Build the PC, see if you're happy with the performance, and then go from there. There are lots of tutorials out there (linus has one), and most decent motherboards have good auto overclocking tools.

Thank you guys. :) I don't think my new one will need to be over clocked. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/3R70x

Tbh if you don't plan to overclock it's a little pointless to get a K-series and a z97 mobo. But then, it's comforting to know you can if you change your mind.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

No problem! And if you don't plan on overclocking, you can get the regular 4770 (or 4760, if you're just gaming, there's almost no improvement with the i7) instead of the 4770k. It's the same chip, just without the overclocking ability, and it's a bit cheaper. You could also get an H97 motherboard (same idea, it's the same as z97 but without overclocking options). You'll save a lot of money going that route.

However, if you want the option in the future, by all means go for it.
