Hello guys!

As I'm quite new to this forum, I hope you welcome me with open arms, haha :)

Now to the topic!

I'm looking to buy a high end computer build, and I do have all components right now. Yet I have need something to put my killer hardware inside and still have a nice look.

I'm looking for a clean windowed case, which will focus on the motherboard.

My suggestion is the NZXT H440. But after looking through previews and so on, I found out that there's a problem with the heat. Of cause I'm not sure how big of a problem that is in my case, as I havn't tried my hardware inside the case, yet.

My hardware goes like this (future build as I'm waiting for Z97)

CPU = 4790k

Motherboard = Asus Maximus VII Formula

CPU Cooler = H100i

SSD  = intel 730

HHD = WD black

GPU = Asus Matrix Plat GTX 780 TI

PSU = Corsair RM850 (not sure if this can run up the system or not either)

Ram = Corsair Vengeance

Corsair Sleeved Modular Cables - Red

And the case that I have currently in mind is the NZXT H440, only reason as I've stated above, is my concern about the heat. But yet I have only found articles and youtube videoes of the case when it's idle and under full load (prime 95)

I would love to hear what you recommand, if I should either stay with the H440, as the heat wont be a problem if I'm just playing games, or if I should find another case (If you have any recommandations, I would love to see it)

And if you finally got down here, I would like to thank you for taking your time to read my post, and thanks for helping me.

Have a wonderfull day.

//Jonathan

:EDIT: I am looking to make a black/red build, so I rather stay with a either all black case, or a case like the H440 with mixed red and black.

:EDIT2: Case is too small for the GPU. GPU size is 297, and case can only take 294, therefor I do need another case

H440 really - If you have that system, you can spare a few bucks and get better fans.

Which would you recommand? I was thinking Corsair for Air Flow and Noctua for SP

I have a h440 sitting on a table waiting for a z97 build and I'm actually going to spend a little bit more and get a full set of the new Noctua fans (3000rpm) and I don't care about sound and let them go wild.

As for the case being, which has a lot of quiet components I think you can go a little higher on the RPM's too ;)

But yearh. I'll probably stick with the H440, as it fits the theme and build perfectly with the ROG build and such. Also waiting for the black Noctua fans, instead of having some beige sticking out.

Don't get Corsair fans. They're crap.

Don't get an 850W PSU to power a single GPU system, unless you're planning on adding another GPU. Also, the RM850 is expensive and overrated. And it doesn't go with a black and red colour scheme.

How much RAM?

HDD*

NZXT H440 is good, but doesn't have 5.25" optical drive bays if that matters to you.

Corsair fans are pretty good. Not the best IE noctua but do get the job done.

As for the matter of fans, I got a bunch of normals fans laying around, so I might just wait untill I can afford a whole set of Noctua, and replace it slowly.

Which kind of PSU are you thinking? would a 750W would be better or would even that be an overkill?

And for the optical drive, I do have an optical drive, and once I need it used, I'll just pop my case open and inset it manually as I don't use it at all except for drivers and windows.

@ttam @theam123 I have AF120 quiet's and SP120 performance editions. The AF120's aren't silent and move hardly any air. The SP120 are loud.

Sadly I've made the same mistake, and I can feel that my AF doesn't move that much air, haha. But I'll use them as a replacement for when I get the Noctua, which should be an ideal solution, as I cannot purchace the entire build at once. I have a current PC right now, so I'm just going to buy the case, motherboard plus the cpu to start with so the new pc works with the mobo + cpu. Then slowly replace my current hardware with the new as I've listed above and last sell my old pc and buy the graphic card at last.

@theam123 I updated the earlier post. The RM Series isn't very good. And the colour scheme is off for a red and black build anyway. You could overclock both the 780Ti and 4790k on 600W.

I'm going for 16GB of corsair vengeance red display, and I'm starting off with 1TB of storage on HDD and 240 on SSD. Once it's filled up I'll buy another HDD, as I'm not the biggest consumer of data.

As with the PSU, it wont ever be visible, as it's inside the NZXT logo, only the sleves will be, as i will upgrade those to red at some point.

:EDIT: Now I'm stuck between the 650w or 750w.

@theam123 Where are you from? Don't tell me the country, I mean like the Americas, Europe, Asia...

Noctua isn't the only good fans out there, if you live in Europe you could try some NB Eloops.

I'm from Europe.

I've seen the NB eLoops, but the biggest problem with those are I cannot find any that fits the colour right. It has to be dark, like the Noctua industiral, as my build mainly is black/red.

Forgot to say that those were from Noiseblocker, Phobya makes them in black and red(your theme) or black.

Have you considered the Fractal Design Define R4 Blackout?

31IBloX0zhL.jpg

I have yes. The only concern that I have is that there's veeery limited space on top of the motherboard, which till limit the space if you're having the H100i + fans between the motherboard as I'm going to use.

This is not sometihng that I can say for sure tho. But I've been lookign around at some builds, and I've only seen builds with a h100i and motherboards which does not have a large heat sink, which the formula has.

Also having the fans go undernethe the motherboard will kinda ruin the astethichs (in my opinion) as the motherboard is beautiful.

They do look nice indeed! I actually like it.. But now the problem is that I've tried to search for those models on some of the danish hardware sites, and simply cant find it. So it's either getting those from another country or the noctua. Thanks a lot for showing me this

If you're looking for models you won't find them on hardware sites.

I'll see myself out.

The RM Series is expensive and unimpressive. What sort of cables do you want? Individually sleeved, red or black?

The cables are not that important for me at this moment, but I'm looking for them being red.

Compatible with the EVGA Supernova G2/P2 power supplies, 750W and above.

http://www.corsair.com/en/professional-individually-sleeved-dc-cable-kit-type-3-generation-2-red

All the cables except the main 24pin, because Corsair are scumbags. Compatible with most of their modular PSUs, including the RM Series.

If these aren't the sort of cables you are looking for, you can sleeve your own.
