Budget (including currency): not yet known, but as low as makes sense

Country: germaqny

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video editing with either CapCut or DaVinci Resolve

Hey everyone,

I am looking for recommandations for a video editing rig for my sister. I am looking for something I can get for as cheap as makes sense. It would be used to edit 4k videos recorded with a Sony A7 iii for instagram and Tiktok.

Right now, I am editing some of the videos with my rig, but since we live half an hour to and hour apart, it would be nice if she could do smaller things by her own or maybe the fine tuning with colour and everything.

We already tried anyDesk, but I would need to be available and everything.

Any recommandations what would be good for like light editing? Maybe with upgrade path?

We do not have a fixed bugdet yet, but as cheap as makes sense would be nice!

Should we focus on GPU?

Thanks in Advance!

it heavely depends on wich software you will be using, bc capcut is more cpu heavy, but DaVinci resolve is more gpu dependent, i could make a list for u if u want and if u could give me abt the budget you have.

Thanks, those are good infos!

We have talked about it - since we started with davinci, we think we want to stay with it.

Budget is difficult - she said like: "as little as possible, as much as needed."

I am already thinking: Would it be worth it to get like an older office machine and get like a PSU and GPU?

Otherwise - I would say it would be great if something that can run davinci would be possible for like below 1000 Euro?

Probably not, since the power supply of HP Prodesks and Dell Optiplex are usually proprietary format and can't be easily replaced with a standard one. Also, the default power supplies usually don't have an extra connector for gpu power.
