So i am looking to get a 3d printer. I have absolutely no idea where to start. I always heard REALLY good or REALLY bad about the ender 3s, seemingly a QC issue, but havent heard really anything about them in the last 5 years or so. My dad picked up some fancy Bambu Labs printer (P2S i think w/ the ams) on black friday for a stupid good deal this past year, so i have some (very limited) help & experience if i go with a bambu. That said, basically my entire reason for getting a printer is to 3d print a toolgrid system and attachments for my toolbox at work. its SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper for me to buy a printer and print everything than it is to just buy the toolgrid setup and then have to cut it all to size. I am not super opposed to used machines, but we were burned on a used ender 3 like 4 years ago so kinda weary about them and would ideally like to purchase a new one from somewhere on a sale or somethin. Probably will end up selling it on facebook marketplace when im done with my toolgrid prints but i guess we will see how i like it or if i find anything else i want/need to print.

So i guess what i am asking is what 3d printer might you recommend to me? Trying to keep it around or below $500 not including filament. my toolgrid prints alone are expected to go through about 10 1kg rolls of filament.

Good reads, but if your father has a P2S I would seriously just look at a P1S w/ AMS combo which will be $500-$550.

If you want an easy to use and maintain printer look at Bambu. Their stuff seems to just work and when you do eventual have an issue their help tutorials get you back printing fast. Get the best enclosed printer with an AMS you can afford and keep an eye out for sales.
