Greetings all,

I need some help troubleshooting the problems I explain below.

I bought this computer last September and I didn’t have many issues at first, but recently I’ve been experiencing some problems related to booting into Windows.
When I start the computer, it powers on but, before entering Windows, the motherboard shows the number 44 on the display. I’m not sure if this refers to the temperature or if it is an error code. The fans and the RGB on the RAM and GPU are all on, but both monitors remain black.
Another issue I’m experiencing occurs when I’m playing on my 240 Hz monitor while watching a video on my second Dell 60 Hz monitor. The monitors suddenly turn off and then turn back on.

Computer Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D "Zen 5"
Asus NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
RAM UDIMM Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB
SSD M.2 2280 Samsung 9100 Pro 1TB
SSD M.2 2280 Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB
SEASONIC Vertex Gx-1200W
Motherboard ATX MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk

Monitors:
Samsung Odyssey G8 27" Oled 4K 240Hz
Dell UltraSharp 2K 60Hz

Hope I find a helpful soul that could help me with these problems.

Seems like it may indeed be CPU temp readout: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/1itesa3/x870_tomahawk_error_code_4445/

And there's a Level1Tech Forum thread with guys going a bit deeper, but its mostly Linux specific: https://forum.level1techs.com/t/9900x-stuck-on-postcode-44-only-during-ocassional-reboots/228793

Anyway, when you get this black screen does it take much longer to boot than usual? Or the error code is the only thing seemingly wrong here? Try stressing your CPU and reboot before it cools down, see if the readout changes.

Welcome to the forums!

What happen is:

I turn the PC on, the fans RGB etc all on, the led in the MB stays at 44, and both monitors stay black.

Do you eventually get into windows? Do you have to reboot to get in?
Have you updated the BIOS?

Recent steps I’ve taken:

  • Removed and reinstalled the graphics card, verifying the power cables and ensuring the card is properly seated.

  • Flashed the BIOS to the latest version (AMI BIOS 7E59v2AA0).

  • Adjusted BIOS settings: enabled EXPO and set the M.2 slots to Gen 5.

Do you know if there are any other BIOS settings I should change after a reset?
