This PSU or that PSU? Help please! :c

Go to solution Solved by Izaya Orihara,

Would you personally use this in  any your rig if you were able too? (if it were a good wattage)

I have build 5 rigs with Corsair RM Series PSU's including the 650 one and I use a 1000 Watt one in my rig.

I would recommend the EVGA Supernova 750w G2: http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/318514/POWERSUPPLIES_700W_-_799W/EVGA/220-G2-0750-XR.asp

It's a higher-end unit than the RM series (among one of the best). It's also price lower, it seems.

To add to that, the XFX pro series PSU's are also 190$ (850w is 200$) as shown by PCPP and are great choices as well.

Both should have a switch on the PSU to so that you can choose if you want it to operate on fully active cooling or hybrid fanless mode.

Your original choice of the Seasonic 660W Platinum would be better than the Corsair RM, although it won't be enough if you want to run 290CF/780SLI as per your prev thread.

Any of these would be a good choice, although they might not be available in AUS. They will probably all be more expensive than the RM, with the possible exception of the G2 Supernova and Leadex Gold.

Superflower Leadex Gold/ Platinum

EVGA Supernova G2

Antec High Current Pro Platinum

Seasonic X Series

Corsair Rm 650  hands down.

No.

RM650 , nice cables , only 650W perfect

What? Perfect?

They're CapXon and Ltec caps. They're both chinese companies and have made historically cheap terrible caps.

Corsair sees them fit to use, if you or OP likes them and believe they're decent now, that's your prerogative.

Evidence suggests they're certainly not bad PSUs, but there are better around that price range.

And Teapo's. And if I remember correctly one uses Elite's. The 5 year warranty indicates Corsair believed in it, even if they were wrong. They aren't terrible, but I wouldn't accept anything less than Teapo's, especially for that price.

Also I heard that Capxon is taiwanese.

well i was gonna mention that Channel Well Technologies (CWT) manufactures them which is worrying

but from what i understand they got their act together  so i really dont know

CWT is a good OEM as far as I know. Quan289 probably knows their history better than any of us.

Quick run down. Teapo's are taiwanese and are average/acceptable. Capxons aren't the worst, but you should avoid them where possible. They are only really acceptable on budget units IMO. Elites and Ltecs should be avoided like the plague. Panasonic and Nippon Chemi-Con are good/excellent.

A previous post on the caps used in the RM Series:
