Hello guys, i recently bought thr rx 9070xt. For cpu i have the ryzen 5 5600x, i know i would have bottleneck and i was saving up to upgrading to AM5. Although fate had other plans and ram and ssd prices skyrocketed. I wanna do an upgrade to my pc and i am thinking to get a better am4 cpu. Tell me your opinions.

The only worthy upgrade is a 5700X3D or 5800X3D.

For 1440p, the 5600x is actually plenty good enough with a 9070 XT:

Honestly, unless you can find a used 5700X3D or 5800X3D for a reasonable price (like under $300 USD), I would just stick with the 5600X. It's not like your PC is going to blow up if you are CPU-limited.

If you have a CPU bottleneck and can't maintain a consistent frame rate, using a frame capper like that found in RTSS and capping to a frame rate you can mostly hit consistently will usually help make the game feel better. When you're CPU-limited, a capped consistent frame rate is often more pleasant than a frame rate with a higher average but big frame time swings.

If you then find yourself with a ton of extra GPU headroom because of the capped frame rate, you can increase image quality using Virtual Super Resolution to get more out of your GPU.

"TV Gaming" PC: Ryzen 5 5600 :: 32GB DDR4-3200 :: RTX 2070 Super :: 500GB PCIe 3.0 SSD :: 1.5TB of SATA SSDs :: Windows 11

"Desk Gaming" PC: i5-4690K :: 16GB DDR3-1600 :: RX 560D 4GB :: 500GB SATA SSD :: Linux Mint 22

Office PC: Dell Pro 14 :: Ultra 7 268V :: 32GB DDR5-8533 :: 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe :: 6TB HDD :: Windows 11

Laptop: Dell Latitude 15.6" :: i5-4200U :: 8GB DDR3-1600 :: 500GB SATA SSD :: Linux Mint 22

Primary NAS: i5-7500 :: 16GB DDR4-2133 :: 250GB SSD :: 8TB HDD :: TrueNAS Scale 24.10

Web Server/Backup NAS: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B :: 2GB RAM :: 64GB microSD card :: 8TB HDD :: Raspberry Pi OS

Other tech stuff: iPad Pro M4 13" :: Samsung Galaxy A15 4GB :: 2022 Kindle Fire HD 7 :: PS4 Slim w/ 1TB SSD :: OG Nintendo Switch

The 5600X is a pretty reasonable pairing for the 9070 XT, I would not be too concerned about bottlenecks unless you are having a specific performance problem in a game you play often.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

What speed of ram are you currently using?

As the others have mentioned, the only practical upgrade for you would probably be the X3D processors. If you go with the 5700X, or something similar, you would have more cores but it would not result in a very large performance boost. From the benchmarks I have seen, the 5700X performance is similar to 5600X in battlefield 6

You would benefit from faster ram. Ryzen CPUs depend on ram speed for core-to-core communication. If you get some DDR4 3600, that would improve your CPU performance a little.

what is Virtual Super Resolution

It's a setting that allows you to run the game at a resolution that's higher than your monitor's resolution, and then downsample to your output res. This will improve image quality - basically it's really effective anti-aliasing.

It's kind of the opposite of upscaling (DLSS/FSR).

And 110 fps is still great performance! Just use VSR to crank the res scale, turn off the frame counter, and enjoy the game.

You're already having a perfectly good gaming experience. Don't let FOMO make you spend a bunch of money on inflated-price hardware when the actual subjective difference it makes won't be that significant.

If you're still playing at 1080p and you're really itching to upgrade something, yes, I'd probably upgrade the monitor

Honestly no, it's been ages since I paid any attention to the monitor market. I'd just go search "1440p monitors" on rtings and try to find one that's available in your price range and has good ratings on that website.
