my computer is a HP p7-1417c

Well it all happed wen i installed a XFX R9-280x G-card. Then a corruption spread form program to program and then to system programs. Then i reinstalled windows 8 and, I think the corruption sped to my Recovery Image then wen I reinstalled the corruption was there. So as of the result I do not have a hp boot the screen is black then it goes to log on. So i can't seam to get to my bios. Now I think I have to completely wipe the drive (aka get rid of the hp Recovery Image) and, then try and reinstall the proper way.So i am asking if i am right or is there a another way to fix it.

It could be a hard drive failure and/or a memory failure, I'd use Memtest on the memory and if thats clean then try a different hard drive.

That is one of the best tips I can give anyone who is having corruption issues.

I don't see how a graphics card could corrupt your OS unless the drivers were installed incorrectly. Did you leave the drivers from your old GPU on the system too?

Also, this is a bit off-topic, but how did you manage to fit an R9 280X into a cramped OEM PC? I can't even fit one in my Antec 300 unless it's a shorter version.

Actually could be a good question,

Could it potentially be an issue with regards with an overloaded PSU? Causing issues with the machine as if the OEM PSU is still in the machine then that could be causing loads of issues.

if he cannot get into his bios then a corrupted hard drive is not the ~Cause~. it is still very possible, however. try resetting your BIOS, and if that does not work, replace the cmos battery. let me know what happens.

I also suggest, since you have already re installed windows and most of your stuff is gone already, to wipe the drive using something like dban on hirens, and then re install.

I suggested both incase anyone else was reading this thread with a similar issue but still could get access to the BIOS.
