Could be, or GPU.

Do you ever use PC without gaming at all, or do you almost always run some game when the PC is on? Because that could rule out GPU potentially.

More arrows point to the display though, since straight line artifacts are common on failing displays or when parts of display fail:

Supposedly you don't have second monitor?

Dying monitor?

its new. Though, the only thing that happened to it was... I accidentally let it fell flat on the soft arm edge of my couch. No visible damage

DOA? no visible damage doesn't mean no damage, it's an electronic,

  • if different cable or device displays same anomaly, then the last outlier is the monitor itself

Or something else?

One thing is I have a 2nd monitor that uses HDMI to display port.

Another thing is my GPU is being supported by anti bracket

If your second monitor works, I doubt it's the GPU.

You could swap cables of one or other monitor can use each to rule out bad cable.

What about specific port numbers on the GPU? It doesn't matter where I plug it in- at least for DP?

It shouldn't matter, it's just connection, there's no possible advantage for specific connectors unless it's different connector or version, which it most likely isn't.

Got any different cables for the monitor?

so uhh... a major update: I have not tested on different cable yet, but I got new issue: infrequent artifact like white boxes/lines that flashes from time to time.

interesting, this could be GPU, but it also could be monitor getting worse

btw the line is constant or occasional?

does it appear randomly, or when specific content/game is displayed?

GPU temps while gaming?

occasional... I think. It can also occur on desktop/browsing.

ATM of this message, I am debunking this out by turning off variable refresh rate from my monitor settings.

Breakthrough update: It IS the included cable from Asus that caused the problem. I guess the header cannot be fully inserted in? The one I got from best buy is fully inserted

nice, better faulty cable than anything actually expensive, enjoy artifact free gaming/browsing

I just messaged the original seller that sold me the card. They said they never saw a single horizontal line flickering when he was testing it before shipping it.

I happen to buy another monitor from LG (the main display is Asus ROG.)
