CS2 keeps crashing

Go to solution Solved by unhappyAMDuser,

SOLVED.

What worked for me was a combination of different things, so I can't say what actually solved it. I used DDU in safe mode and installed and adrenalin 25.8.1 and under installation i checked factory reset and chose default installation. I also went to the folder C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\shadercache and deleted the folder named "730", then I verified the game files of CS2 and launched the game. Then i let the game sit in main menu to figure out the shader cache. After that the game runs perfectly. Haven't had any crashes. Hope this can help someone.

Hello everyone

First off im gonna list my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS B760-i gaming wifi (with newest bios update)

CPU: i7-14700kf

GPU: Hellhound rx 7900 xtx (with and adrenalin 25.9.1)

RAM: 2x16 gb g.skill ripjaws s5 ddr5 5600 MHz

PSU: Cooler master ATX 850w 80+ gold (came with the NR200P max v2 case)

OS: Windows 11

I think thats all worth mentioning. Now lets get to the problem. I've tried everything that both I and chatgpt could think of, but CS2 still keeps crashing. I just get a black screen, then the mouse curser get the loading icon and the game shuts down. I have the same problem for other steam games. Any suggestions?

Can you list a few?

If you're having problems in lots of games, I would recommend some of the troubleshooting steps:

- CLEAN reinstallation of Graphics drivers

- A CLEAN wipe and reinstallation of your OS, followed by full fresh driver installation

If you still get this multi-game-crashing behaviour after a clean OS install, I would start looking at hardware issues.

I have tried everything you said and am still getting crashes. What could be a common hardware issue?

How do I check the size of my page file?

Settings, System, About, then on the right hand side advanced system settings, in the new pop up window, under the advanced tab, click the settings button under performance and then click the advanced tab in the new window, here you should see Virtual Memory, this is your page file.

CS2 uses some quirks from the original source engine still, one thing being some less important files are stored on the page file, even with enough RAM available it will still do this, which if there is no or isn't enough page file can cause some funny business. I had the same issue, and am running a similar build to you (see drop down below for details), and had a error message pop up when i booted saying "not enough memory available" or whatever when, CS2, steam and discord were the only things open, and only about 10gb of my 32 were being used. I upped my page file from either 8 or 16gb (i forget which) to 32gb and that solved the error message and it crashes less for me now

25.9.1 has been weird on my card. Apart from that  25.8.1,  performs better as well. Run DDU in safe mode, you can slect this behavior on first launch of the program, "clean and restart" and then install adrenalin 25.8.1 or earlier. I'll suggest toggling the option in DDU to "prevent windows update from installing drivers", before running ddu.

It still wont launch unless it runsa as administrator. I even ran some benchmark workshop maps after i started it as administrator and everything worked just fine. But i cant play bc VAC can find signatures. Pretty weird imo

Id try verifying game files in steam then, as it sounds as if something could be going wrong, do you have admin rights on your own account? Do you own this computer and is your profile the primary account on the computer?

So your account is not the main account on this PC? If not then create admin account.. Why its not admin if its the only account, who knows. Might be worth reinstalling windows 11.
