Hello everyone! I am new to the forums, but have been a long time subscriber/watcher of the channel.

Today I decided to make a forums account because I am in the process of selling my current PC and am working on a new build and thought that a group of well-versed people would be able to give some decent input.

First off, this is my current pc that I will be selling soon.

FX- 8350 CPU
XFX - DD 7970 GHZ
16 GB Ripjaw 1600 mhz memory

Decent Biostar mobo * not really too important*

Coolermaster HAF-x
120 HB SSD~2TB HDD
some off brand 1100 watt PSU

Now, I have used AMD CPU's for the last few builds I have done and have been fairly happy, but this time around I want to give intel CPU's a shot but to be honest I’m overwhelmed with the 500 different sockets and seemingly unstructured names/numbers attached to them.

This is what I have come up with so far:
Case:
Bitfenix Colossus Mini ATX
Reason: Coming from the huge HAF x the smaller case just seems much nicer for me.

GPU:
XFX R9 290x DD
Reason: I have had excellent experiences with XFX and the warranty cannot be beat in my eyes. As for the actual GPU, arguments could be made that a R9 290 would be better in price to $ ratios. But at the moment the 290x is 4xx on average.

Mobo:

ASUS Rampage IV Gene (1150 or 2011 depending on the CPU I end up with)
Reason: From what i have seen there really isn’t a lot of competition for good Micro ATX mobos.

CPU Here is where I more or less am at a loss for the most part. So far from my research it seems to come down to ivy bridge 4930k vs haswell 4770k~4790k.
*I apologize for any kind of mistakes or misinformation* Dx

PSU :
Corsair AXi Series 760i
Reason: The 80+ platinum rating is very attractive to me.

I would like to hear your suggestions for different things! I’m open to any opinions or recommendations.

Welcome fellow Linustech newbie  :D

Also do you plan on going crossfire in the future ?

The cpu you will be looking at is the 4670K or the upcoming 4690K which are both Socket 1150.

You dont need to spend on a Platinum rated psu. A Gold Rated one will be sufficient.

Also where are you located ? As this will help people when speccing.
