GPU Support Bracket Help

I'd just put it at that point with very little pressure. That way, if the card does begin to sag, it will instead be supported by the bracket. Thus preventing sag.

Thankyou

I am trying to add a support bracket to my new GPU. It is 31cm wide and 5 inches deep, a two slot card. Without the bracket, a spirit level shows that the card is level. If I put on the bracket with even a little force up, the spirit level shows that the card is bent. I have put in the bracket with very little force, it is just sort of resting against it without hardly any upward pressure.

Do I need the bracket or should I just leave the bracket in as it is?

Generally the brackets are adjustable to prevent putting force on the GPU, as you want them just supporting the card. Most GPUs should start level, they sag over time. So a support bracket is likely still a good idea.

When checking that the card is level, make sure the case is level too. Otherwise your reference may not be correct. Generally, I don't care about perfectly level, I just support the GPU honestly.

Doesn't sound like you need the bracket.

If a level shows it's level... are you worried about it dipping in the future?

Get a pillar support instead if you're concerned, IMO.

1) pictures for this would be *way* more helpful.

2) Why are you measuring in both CM and Inches at the same time?  That's a little ridiculous.

3) If the card looks level on it's own, it's probably fine.  If you see a visible sag, and want to support it, do it.

Added a photo. Sorry for the cm and inches.

Is there a reason why you can't loosen the screw on the bracket to align it so that the card will be level with it in place?

Yeah seriously, there's a big thumbscrew right there on the bracket. Loosen it up, get the card level again and tighten it there. That way, future sag is prevented.

This is my point, this is the pic before I loosend. I have loosend it but seems too loose. The only way I can get it level according to the spirit level is by applying very little pressure. Wondering if the bracket is needed?

It probably isn't "needed," strictly speaking. GPU support brackets are mostly there for peace of mind.

I'd just put it at that point with very little pressure. That way, if the card does begin to sag, it will instead be supported by the bracket. Thus preventing sag.
