Hello,

I'd like to ask for help with how to clean TV screen. I have the TCL 65C845 and my roommate vapes inside house.

The vape leaves a thin and usually invisible film on the screen but when some of us accidentally touch the screen, there is immediately very visible smudge which is incredibly hard to wipe since the more I wipe, the more smudge appears as I keep on smearing the vape film more and more.

Obviously the best thing would be not to vape around the house at all but that's not something I can currently change and I would like to have some way to clean the screen when the need arises. I have read lots and lots of contradicting articles, debates and posts on the internet and so I am dumbfounded how to go about it.

I did read the manual of the model itself but it was not helpful at all, below I will cite exact wording of the manual:

"Dust the set by wiping the screen and the cabinet with
a soft, clean cloth or some special liquid cleaner.
• Do not apply excessive force to the screen when
cleaning.
• Do not use water or other chemical cleaner to clean
the screen as this may damage the"

I did read that isopropyl alcohol works great with greasy smudges without leaving traces behind since it instantly vaporates. I also have 99,9% IPA at home so that seems like an ideal solution.

However as I mentioned, the various sources are contradicting each other about it. While some state that it is the ideal way to clean the screen, others say that you should use diluted (some say 70:30 IPA:distilled water, some 50:50) and another sources say not to use IPA at all since it will damage coating.

So is there an answer to this or do I have to either risk it or forget it completely?

Thanks for your time and answers beforehand.

Invisible Glass is the best stuff I've found for cleaning oily haze off of glass. Nothing else works as well on the inside of my windshield (and I don't even smoke).

Spray it on a clean cloth, don't spray it on the screen. Screens get ruined when enough liquid gets on them to drip down into the panel and wick up the diffuser layers.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I see I never heard of it since I am not from USA, but it seems like I can buy it here in Czech Republic from special dealers. It is on the pricier side but I suppose a bottle would last me a long time so the price is not that crucial.

However in quick googling I found at least three different manufacturers with the same "Invisible Glass" named product which was surprising since I though it was a unique brand. Is there a go to brand or it does not matter?

It's an ammonia free glass cleaner (window tint safe). I'm sure you have something similar available to you in your country that would work similar.

For others, I'm also a fan of invisible glass.

I've been using a dry microfiber cloth for years and never had any problems for general dusting.

For smudges I occasionally dampen the cloth with tap water, wring it out until it's only slightly damp and with a back and forth motion remove it then I go back and forth with a dry cloth to remove any dampness that may remain and to buff it out.

I found that I rarely need to do so if I finish cleaning and just go back over the area with a different portion of the cloth.

Have you asked TCL what they suggest?

Good question, dumb answer from me - it somehow didn't even occur to me to try asking them, I automatically turned to you guys.

Will try though, thanks for that.
