Hello guys,

I just upgraded my GPU to a Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt.

My old 3080 needed only 2x8 pin connectors but now I need 3. My PSU is a Corsair RM1000x.

Can I use the pigtail of one of my pcie cable or I should try to find an extra pcie cable? I don't want to have any issues if I use the pigtail or if I get a new pcie cable and it's not corsair brand. If I should get a new cable which brand is compatible.

Thanks for helping.

Using the pigtail on one of the cables is completely fine for a 9070 XT and I did so for 2 years with my RTX 4080.

Corsair have high quality daisy-chain/pigtail cables on their RMx PSU's, its totally safe to do so.

Ah ok I will give it a try, read online that it was not recommended but I guess depends on the power supply.

It most certainly depends on the power supply. A Corsair RMx is a A:Tier PSU and its completely safe to do so.

I have daisy-chained my GTX 980 Ti, RTX 2080 Super and RTX 4080 with Corsair RM750x - Corsair RM1000x without issues.

It was more a problem in the early days with poor PSU's.

A 9070 XT is a 340-360w card while each 8pin connector is rated for 150w and the GPU can also draw 75w from the PCIE Slot.

You are no where near the limit of the power you have available.

Wait, I thought the Nitro+ was using the 12VHPWR connector? Are you using a 3x8 to 12VHPWR adapter?

Yes I'm using the 3x8 adaptor it came with because I don't have the 12VHPWR connection on my CORSAIR RM1000x.

Perfect I will take your words for it 😜

The card is only rated for 330W. That's barely above the limit of just two 8 pin connectors assuming the card draws nothing from the slot.

I'd be more wary of the 12VHPWR connector than the daisy chain 8 pin one.

Make sure that 16 pin cable is fully inserted in the card.

I mean, I agree it makes more sense with a bigger screen, just saying you still get the benefits with like 27" especially if your close to the monitor if that makes sense.

TV or monitor isn't a big diff nowadays but you def pay premium for "OLED monitors" hence I think a good OLED TV with low input lag is a good budget alternative.

Same still applies to 1440p, just there's not as many options I think.... 1080p OLEDS are also basically non-existent?

The gpu came with this adapter, its the only thing I can use with it to bring power to it it's a 3x8pins to a small 12pin

From that post on Corsair Reddit post from a Corsair person, I guess I should be fine daisy chaining one of my cable to that 16pin adapter that came with the 9070xt.

Pigtail is fine, but RM1000x has 3x 8pin/6+2 connectors anyway

I looked everywhere where I keep all my computer stuff and didn't find a 3rd one. We renovated and I thought I threw my old box away but I just found my Corsair RM1000x box😅 Usually I would take all the cables an keep them in one place but I guess I kept those one in the box so I finally found the third one.
