I've been using my TV as a second monitor for watching movies and TV-shows for a long time now. Have used a DVI->HDMI cable for almost a year now to connect the two. Used to be with a 560 Ti, but got a R9 290 about 2 months ago along with some other parts during an upgrade.

Been running fine until about 2 weeks ago, where the TV suddenly just wouldn't be recognized by my PC. I haven't touched the cables between it being recognizable and suddenly not.

Was able to get it back, by unplugging the TV, rebooting and plugging it back in. But today this didn't work.

This is a tough one to help with, but does anyone have any idea? If you need any information, ask away!

FYI: The TV is turned off when I'm not using it.

Turn sleep mode or screen saver off for it, amd drivers have an issue with screen saver and will stop displaying anything to them. Had an issue similar to this with my 7950 and turning screen saver off fixed it for me.

I tried turning off any screen sleep mode or screen saver on my PC, also tried the same thing for the TV itself. No change, still not detected.

EDIT: Found an option in CCC "Alternative DVI-Operating Mode" under My Digital Flatpanels. I unchecked this, and now it was able to detect my TV.

EDIT EDIT: Turned my TV off and on, now it's not detected again -_-
