GPU Upgrade Issue

Go to solution Solved by YoungBlade,

Sometimes, a BIOS update is needed to support a newer graphics card. It's not common, but if you haven't updated your BIOS recently, I'd give it a try.

Something else that could be happening is a PCIe incompatibility. Because the card supports Gen 5, but the board and CPU only support Gen 4, there can sometimes be an issue with negotiating which version to use. A BIOS update might help that. You can also try using the 1660S, manually setting the generation to Gen 3 or 4, and then installing the 9060XT so it doesn't have to negotiate a generation at Auto.

Hello! I just upgraded my gpu from a gtx 1660 super to a brand new gigabyte rx 9060xt (16gb). To start off, I just took out the 1660s and installed the new card. When i tried to boot the pc, the new cards lights and fans turned on, but i couldn't get any graphics on the moniter. My CPU is a ryzen 5 3600x and my mobo is an msi b550 pro-vdh wifi. I then went back to my old card, installed ddu, and ran it with wifi turned off. After installing my new card again, there were still no graphics. Then i took out the cmos battery for 10 minutes and then put it back in. Still no graphics. Do i need to remove the cmos battery again? Is it a driver or compatibility issue? Or maybe i need a new hdmi cable (and no, it's not plugged into the mobo)? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is a certain method for doing this.  You need to remove the old Nvidia drivers in safe mode with DDU and THEN install the new card and AMD drivers while blocking Windows Updates from installing its own drivers.

Also, what PSU are you using, just to make sure you have enough juice.
