Hey guys hope everyone is well. I have a doozie. The laptop is an HP 255 g8 ( Athlon Silver 3050U variant). It had a screen issue, I changed the screen and all was well but then that new screen had issues, which was baffling to me, because I purchase all of my replacement screens for my clients from the same place and never had an issue. Got another screen, and now (here is the kicker), if the HP display driver is installed, the screen comes on as all white, and external monitors show no signal. If I get the display driver from AMD, the screen does not come on, but I can use an external monitor. I had also replaced the display cable as well.  Used both, same issue. Upon checking Device manager with the AMD driver installed, I get the yellow exclamation mark by the display even though it shows me that it is the AMD display device.

1. Boot into safe mode, use ddu to fully wipe both amd hp display drivers, then reinstall the latest amd driver only.

2. Check the exact model number of the original panel vs the replacement. If they don’t match, try sourcing the identical model the laptop shipped with.

3. If you get a yellow exclamation in Device Manager, try forcing a have disk driver install for the gpu to see if it clears.

If none of that works, it’s possible the gpu’s internal display output channel got damaged when the first screen failed. External working but internal not is usually a hint in that direction.

Many thanks, tried step 1 and 2 previously. I forgot to note that. I can't remember If I tried step 3, but if it installs the driver which comes with the laptop which should be the one from HP, that is the one that makes both screens go off, then I have to either force the driver to restart using Win+ctrl+shift+B and or boot into safemode as that is the only way to use the external monitor once that happens. Thanks for input though. Will have one last crack at it and report back.
