i use obs and if i use the gpu encoding it struggles and if cpu enode it strugless and leads to game stuttering on any game that is even slightly cpu intensive

Ok.

Your idea for adding a second GPU to do this should work, I would err on the side of "cheap" in case your OBS has trouble selecting the right card to sue as renderer.

so i have a 5600x and rx 5700xt so encoding kinda sucks i want to be able to record and stream at the same time whould adding a quadro m2000 or simmler low power cheap gpu for encoding i do only have 1 x slots avible but they are open back

Silly question perhaps, have you tried recording+streaming on your current card? Are you using the renderer on the GPU or using a CPU renderer? What software are you using to do this?

No the overhead it makes is quite a lot and I don't expect it to do better that and the quadro you are reffering to is like ancient then adding it to a 1x slot may actually be slow enough to cause trouble.

Anecodtal I know, but google searches seems to turn up people doing exactly this and having good results with NVENC on it.
