Budget (including currency): around 1900 euros

Country: Norway

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rocket League, VSCode, various streaming services

Other details (No existing parts, buying now):

Current plan with prices, with small descriptions of why I chose it on some:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X -- 400 euros: Seems to be versatile and powerful, chose it above 7800X3D because of performance in Rocket League which is the main game I'll play, + the extra cache doesnt help me much I think.

GPU: RX 7800 XT / RTX 4070 Super / RX 7900 GRE -- 700 euros: Not entirely sure which I'll go for, all look good, depends largely on price. Also, does it matter if I buy RX 7800 XT powercolor instead of asus? Price is 100 euros cheaper.

Motherboard: MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi -- 200 euros

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5-6000 (32GB) -- 150 euros

Cooler: Deepcool AK620 -- 70 euros

PSU: Corsair rm750x -- 140 euros: Not very fond of spending this much on a PSU but the cheapest I could find was 120 euros for a PSU which had 80+ gold as well as 750W, and there were other things I didn't love about those so I figured I may as well pay 140 euros for the Corsair. Is 750W even necessary with my build though? Can I find something cheaper?

SSD: Samsung 990 pro 1 TB -- 120 euros: Could've gotten 1 TB SSD for as cheap as 70 euros, but then it's gen 3 rather than gen 4, and gen 4 speeds seemed much better. Considering SSD holds OS and big games, that seems like a substantial advantage. Is it worth it?

Case: Corsair FRAME 400D Mid-Tower -- 90 euros: Was on sale so seemed like very good value. Seemed to have everything I need

Is there anything I'm missing here? Am I overpaying for something for no reason? Should I upgrade somewhere? Are there any mismatches or otherwise bad ideas here?

Small edit: It's Ryzen 7 9700X, not Ryzen 7 9600X

I think you're on the right track.  The 5070 is a better card than you list, possibly stretch for a 9070XT which brings it up to 19,900kr...

Thank you for answer. Worth mentioning that 9600X was a typo and I meant 9700X.

On the proposed changes, such as for example: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive, why do you think this is an improvement on the Samsung? As far as I can tell, they are pretty similar, but the Samsung would be cheaper.

The 9600X is a better bang for buck gaming CPU over the 9700X, but the 9700X is great too, just more expensive.

The Samsung is a 1TB drive, not 2TB.  Plus it's a PRO drive for productivity people not gamers.  You're paying for a more expensive smaller drive you can;t take advantage of cuz you;re only using it to access game files.

I should mention that the PC won't only be used for gaming, I'll be programming with it, streaming with it, studying with it, and doing a lot of multitasking. That's why I think the two extra cores of the 9700X could be useful. Also not entirely sure 2TB will be necessary tbh as I also have a laptop which I use for a lot of stuff, so even if I end up needing more storage it probably won't be for 3+ years. But on the other hand, new video games require more and more GB's...so I'll keep it in mind.

As for the motherboard and PSU, why do you think I should change those? Is there any particular reason or do you just prefer the other ones?

Thank you for response and having to install extra fans actually do sound like quite a hassle so I will change that one. Is there any particular reason you think I should change PSU and motherboard, or is it just a matter of personal preference?

That motherboard supports PCIe 5.0 for that gpu that also supports PCIe 5.0. That board includes WiFi / Bluetooth which is handy for wireless mouse, keyboard, headset. That psu is ATX 3.1 which is what you want for these RTX 40XX / 50XX cards not to mention it's a Seasonic and the fact it's cheaper than that Corsair psu. The total price of that build I posted comes to €1,630 and will mop the floor with any build posted on this thread while having better airflow.

Good arguments on both. I will switch to the Seasonic PSU per your recommendation and probably switch motherboard as well per your recommendation. Only thing holding me back on the motherboard is concerns about VRM's because I conferred with chatgpt which seem to be confident that VRM is better on the tomahawk than the one you recommended. Do you think there's a valid cause for concern there?

Good arguments on both. I will switch to the Seasonic PSU per your recommendation and probably switch motherboard as well per your recommendation. Only thing holding me back on the motherboard is concerns about VRM's because I conferred with chatgpt which seem to be confident that VRM is better on the tomahawk than the one you recommended. Do you think there's a valid cause for concern there?

That board I posted has a 12+2+1 power phase design and will easily handle that cpu. Just as important is both that board and gpu support PCIe 5.0.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D = 46W

Can it handle the 9700X too? I'd rather not switch to the 7800x3D because the 9700X is 1) cheaper and 2) has better performance on rocket league which is my main game. I also don't really see any other places where the 7800x3D outperforms the 9700X which would be relevant to me aside from slightly lower power consumption, but the 9700X is pretty good there too.

My updated plan is:

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor

Deepcool AK620 ZERO DARK 68.99 CFM CPU Cooler

MSI PRO B850-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard

G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Gigabyte WINDFORCE SFF GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB Video Card

Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower Case

SeaSonic Focus GX V4 ATX 3 (2024) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Any obvious changes here? Am I overpaying for something, are there any mismatches, are there any upgrades I could make that would be really good bang for buck?

Edit: the 5070 just increased drastically in price so I'll find something different there, open to suggestions.
