Hello, I'm planning on helping my parents with building a computer instead of them buying a pre-built one. They want it based on data encryption for financial purposes. I'm looking to spend around 400-800 dollars, but nothing is set in stone at the moment. I could also potentially give them my old 560 TI if needed, unless better options are available price wise.

What do you mean by data encryption?

I'm honestly not sure, they want the computer's sole purpose to be based on financial stuff as in banking, investments, etc. His criteria was that he is scared of having such things on a computer & wants it to be secure (he said the word "data encryption".  Basically he is scared of people gathering information or hacking into the system, I am sure the banking, investment websites have data encryption to protect their clients, but is their a consumer way to do that as well?

Thanks a bunch, way cheaper than I anticipated. Greatly appreciate it. Would you know if a better router would help with security currently have a verizon 2 in 1.  I assume GPU is solely going to be based of Haswell for the build as well, no need for a gpu otherwise?

That's very understandable, but if I can help them learn how to use tech to an extent it will be worth it. As everything is evolving in the tech world I would like them to be on pace with it.

I don't think a router would help with internet security. Just make sure you have your firewall on, you have a wifi password, and that your antivirus is up to date. Yes, the GPU is an iGPU that comes with the i5. That's really all you need

Would the Microsoft one that comes with 8.1/7 be enough?

MSE? Yeah, it should be fine. You can always get a paid one for extreme support and protection

I had norton & I kept getting bluescreens, worsened my faulty cpu. Still testing the i7 I have to see what is happening.

Anyway thanks again for all the info, I will pass it on to my parents.
