This should be fine. Most of the mobos you'll be able to buy will have had the updated BIOS flashed at the factory.
Still, not a bad idea to update it to latest release when you get it.

This shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't plan to have hard drives

The rule of thumb in tech is that prices go down over time. This has largely been true with the exception of GPUs which have been all over the place for the past 5 years.
The answer to "should I wait" is usually answered with "do you want/need a new PC right now?" If you have a rig you're happy with now, wait. There will potentially be a new generation of CPU in a year or so. If you don't have one, or it's feeling creaky and in need of an upgrade, get one now.

Honestly a very nice rig all together. The 4TB SSD is huge, but not a problem. I usually spec 2TB drives. Great choice of RAM and solid PSU. I'd say it's mint!

Hi everyone,

I'm building my first PC and after watching a bunch of tutorials and researching I've arrived at a list of all the components. My goal is a simple looking PC, no RGB needed, that can play any game on medium to high settings and that can last into the future for at least 5 years.

Quote

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler
Thermal Compound: Corsair XTM70 3 g Thermal Paste
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: Asus PRIME OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card
Case: Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM850x (2024) 850 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 PWM PST 56.3 CFM 120 mm Fan

I've put my parts list all on pcpartpicker.com and it's showing a bunch of notes and I wanted to run these by an experienced community to see if I'll run into issues later.

Warning: The Asus Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 7 with BIOS version 1409. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.

I'm assuming that all I'll have to do issue is install a BIOS update which shouldn't be a problem.

Quote
  • Note: The Corsair RM850x Power Supply length of 160mm is within the Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 255mm, but exceeds the recommended length of 155mm.

  • Note: The Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 355mm long, but video cards over 300mm may block drive bays. Since the Gigabyte RX 7800 XT Video Card is 302mm long, some drive bays may not be usable. The Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case hard drive bays are positioned where some of the bays may be physically blocked when using longer video cards.

I've watched some videos to see if these would actually be an issue. This video shows The Corsair RM850x fitting inside the case so that shouldn't be an issue. The second one I'm having a hard time visualizing and checking.

Secondly, right now this build would fit within my budget but I'm in no rush to get it immediately. I can wait a year if that means the price of the components would drop. My question is if they will or not? Is there a possibility that they can get higher?

Finally, if anyone with experience sees something weird about my build, has any recommendations or improvements to suggest, I'm more than happy to hear them!

Thank you in advance!

Agreed on the 4TB SSD, I'll likely get a 2TB instead and upgrade if I need it.

I have a mac book right now which is why I'm looking to build a PC. The little amount of games i can play on mac overheat my laptop immediately.

Thank you so much! You've answered everything. I've made the parts list public (dumb mistake on my part haha).

I made a few changes, I'm sorry if its over budget I used a google currency converter but it may be wrong.https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yNwbzP I changed the motherboard to the B850 chipset instead of the B650 because the parts are a higher quality like the vrms (voltage regulator modules) that can limit the cpus performance a little, and I changed the gpu to the 9070 xt

I have my dad's old 34UC98-W wide monitor (3440x1440). I know I'll have to upgrade to something with a better refresh rate (60Hz currently) at some point but I'll do that later down the line.

Amazing thank you!  I had a hard time figuring out the difference between motherboards. I'll have a look at it.

What is the difference? It seems a lot better but would you be able to tell me why that one in particular?

Thank you for the recommendations! it is a little more expensive but still within reason, I'll have a look if it is necessary for me but I really appreciate the suggestions.

the 9070 xt has access to amd's new ray tracing features and fsr4, both will be helpful for having the gpu stay relevant with some newer games requiring raytracing which amd's 7000 series gpus can do but they can't do it well.

You want a 120mm exhaust fan for the back of that case.

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/arctic-p12-pwm-pst-120-mm-1-x-pc-fans-10408707

Look for a board that supports PCIe 5.0 for the video card seeing how these new AMD and Nvidia cards support PCIe 5.0. I'll use this board as an example:

Good to know thank you, that for sure makes it worth it.

Thank you, some are included with the case but I've read these are good and they will always help.

That's a great tip. That for sure will keep my PC relevant for the future. Thank you.
