JBOD purchase

Hi everyone,

I am in Canada and I am looking to expand a Supermicro server with a JBOD. I was wandering if there is any good website to order from or should I look for retailer near me ?
I was hoping to expand to a 60 or 90 bay JBOD, but i am not sure if my current server can take it.

128 GB ram
Raid card: Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID 930-24i 4GB Flash

Do you want new or used? Hunt eBay if you want used or a local server reseller if you have one, otherwise look up on places like the supermicro E-store or other bit IT resellers in your area.

 

Do you want to use that RAID card for all the drives, or get a seperate external RAID card/HBA? Probably get a internal to external connector if you have ports on the current raid card, or get a seperate RAID card or HBA if you have a slot available.

60 to 90 bays? What are you trying to store? Your server can handle it just fine it just won't set any speed records. At my peak I ran a supermico x10 board in a case with 36 3.5 bays, a 36 bay jbod, and a 24 bay jbod. For a total of 96 bays. Now I run just a 12 bay 2u server with 3 18tb drives.

 

eBay or a local computer recycler are the best places to look.
