Hello hello,

Ive been having crashing problems with my PC.

My display goes off and shows no signal or shows a colorful crash screen (tried hooking up a laptop to the same output, works fine, so I'm not suspecting my monitor).

Every time that happens, I turn of my PC with a long press, turn off the PSU from behind, wait a moment ir two then turn it back on and everything works fine.

I tried a few PSU calculators and they all say 750W should be fine but I'm suspecting my PSU is causing all of that.

Im running a RTX3080 FTW (I'm pretty sure 30-series cards are known for running hot and have current spikes, resulting in a short but high power draw), a 5700X3D, 7 fans (4 of which are RGB+3 for the AIO), a 360 AIO, RGB keyboard and a none RGB mouse.

Honestly im here to troubleshoot so I'm my diagnosis is wrong, by all means correct me.

But! If I am right, can anyone recommend a reliable PSU? (Preferably SFX/L, Im planning on going SFF for my next upgrade)

You never mention what PSU you currently have though.  750w is enough but if its a shit 750w then it ain't 😄

Do not buy a new PSU until you're really sure it's that what needs to be replaced.

The first suspect is Nvidia drivers.

Do you have the latest? The drivers has been causing problems for alot of people several months now.

Try an older driver, 566.36 is usually recommended to try to rollback to.

If that doesn't help, do some basic troubleshooting.

Test the 3080 in another pc if you can, bring it to a friend's pc to test it.

Do some memtest.

I usually edit my posts.

*) Ill give the older driver a go.

**) For the GPU in a different pc, should I just plop it in and run furmark for an hour?

***) Never did one tbf, but from a quick look memtest86 looks fine, so I'll try that

All good! 🙂

The Corsair RM is a very solid unit.  I personally ONLY use Corsairs RM lineup of PSU's for my own and previously for customer builds.

Remember that the gold certification actually has nothing to do with quality and its just a certification of efficiency! That being said, most gold rated PSU's are good.

As @Mumintroll writes, definitely check out other things before replacing the PSU.

If you are looking for a new PSU however, you can use this chart right here.

750W is fine but is that PSU any good (is it a decent brand?)?

Yeah it should be good. Check how many watts your CPU and GPU draw using software. Also, are you sure it's the PSU, and not the motherboard or GPU?

From Zach's Tech Turf Discord.

The authors gather information from PSU reviews from other reviewers and LTT Labs etc to make complete list.

We used to use this PSU Tierlist but its outdated by 2 years at this point.

Its also contains a lot less information.

Ok so I did some stuff and Im back with results:

1) Downgraded to driver 566.36 felt like it did the trick for a week until I got another crash and then a few days later another so It doesnt seem like this was the final solution.

2) Did MemTest86, ran it on both sticks (in separate), got a pass on both of them

Im sadly starting to suspect my GPU which makes me sad but I cant rule out anything so what do I do next?

Did you try testing the 3080 in another pc?

Try it and benchmark it for several hours, with Furmark.

Try also some gaming, if you know some specific games it could crash with.

When did you buy the 3080? Do you have some warranty left on it?

I usually edit my posts.
