An Audio enthusiast friend of mine stopped by and brought his Heavy's, the ones you see advertised all over the place, and asked me what I thought of them.

They seem rather well built and comfortable while coming in a nice compact carrying case.  Good noise isolation and has a bunch of features I didn't touch.  I just hooked them to my Topping A70 in single ended mode and gave them a quick couple minute listen.  The sound produced is good, nice crisp treble decent mids and bass that was surprisingly unbloated.  The signature of them is good and unlike anything else I own or have heard.  The problem I found rather quickly is that the imaging and soundstage appears to be weird and alien to me, sometimes it's in one stationary spot then it jumps out and moves around.  I spent less than 10 minutes on them before I started asking my friend what he thought and we both agreed about the soundstage being funky.  He explained that they are multi driver headphones with some kind of DSP which sometimes works great, sometimes doesn't.

The sound signature and build quality alone make it a decent headphone and if you consider the functionality of wireless and what ever else it may be able to do I can see an audience for them at this price point.  $280?  But for myself I prefer the old tried and true, I just don't like the idea of software trickery unless it's an EQ.  As little between me and the intended source is what I prefer, with tubes being an occasional flavor adder.

But I don't think I'm the target audience for these headphones, basically anything heavily marketed probably isn't going to be my cup of tea. (Caveat saw a drop headphone reel in IG, that's a well placed ad).

Audio go Brrrrrr
