So I'm going to set up a homelab server for....some amount of reasons, still deciding of what. Considered it a worthy idea when *quite soon* I'll switch to a Linux vm system. (Windows 11). But before doing that I've decided to upgrade my current network.

Were still stuck on phone line/DSL port so there's a hard limitation of about 100mps D/40-45 U. None the less, I've been looking into using the original router with a Asus Zen mesh kit connected to a L2 management switch and set up to use both at the same time? (There was a huge paragraph response of an answer I wasn't *quite* ready to understand yet). He suggested using vLans to make this happen along with some other stuff I haven't learnt yet, But I'm working on it (even bought a book for it).

Could someone lead me onto the path to I should go to make this work? Am I on the right track as far as to this setup?
