I just finished building my new computer. I downloaded windows 11 installation media to my usb drive turned everything on and went straight to this screen. No bios no preamble just straight to a brick wall.

specs:

rzyen 5 9800x3d

mag x670E tomahawk wifi

samsung 990 evo nvme

pny 5070ti

if I click on the x my screen goes black. Can’t hit back and I can’t hit install.

saw another thread saying I needed to download ssd drivers to my usb. I tried that and unless I’m misunderstanding how to do that. I also was able to see my drive through command prompt diskpart

Where did you get your Win 11 media?  I've done Win11 on similar and never seen this.

Check that RAID is turned off in the UEFI/BIOS.

Go into the BIOS and make sure the device is showing up as detected.

Ok unplugged the usb drive and was able to go into the bios. Everything looks normal and the ssd is showing up

Can I just put it anywhere on the usb or does it need to go in an exact spot? I don’t have it my drive configured as a raid setup.

Nah, you'll be pressing "browse" to point towards the right inf file. Stick it in a new folder on the stick and just browse to it when it asks you to specify.

Downloaded the driver from the motherboard website. Unzipped into the usb. Selected. Nothing is happening. I am so lost.

Just read a thread someone had the same issue and solved it by installing windows 10 instead. I’m going to go do that and report back.

How did you create your USB? by media creation tool or download it directly?

Well that's not really going to do much for you, because you'll end up with Windows 10 when you want Windows 11

Idk man. He said he installed on windows 10 then upgraded to 11 and it worked fine. Don’t really know what else to do at this point anyways. Been trying to trouble shoot it for the last 2 hours.

Interesting to see where this goes. if Windows 10 installer works you should upgrade to Windows 11 right away.

The inf files are further in the folder under NVME > rcraid, did you try that?

Yep. Wouldn’t let me go past the sub folders in nvme. Couldn’t select a specific app just a folder if that’s what you’re asking. Tried selecting every folder and nothing worked

Success? I don’t want to speak too soon but it looks like downloading windows 10 works for some reason. I need to knock on every piece of wood I own.

Could be that for Windows 11 install some driver isn't available that is for 10. Run the media creation tool from Windows and see if it goes through. It should tell you if it isn't.

I don’t get it, but it worked. I guess it’s probably some weird driver thing. Updating all my drivers now and then going to upgrade to windows 11

Wow that took way too long and was way harder than it needed to be, but I’m in windows 11!

I mean yeah, but it's the better OS, don't get me wrong windows 11 has some nice features but imo it's not ready for prime time, and Microsoft keeps making outrageous changes like plastering everything with 'ai' and 'word' subscriptions.... that's actually illegal in the EU...

they just forced copilot into outlook too. Wish I didn’t have to use it for work.
