What caps are acutally in RM?

Guest

I've read a lot of reviews on the RM650, 850 (Chicony) and 1000, but I came across PCPer's review of the RM550 and it says that the 550 has a 390uf, Chemicon 105° bulk cap with numerous secondary Chemicons as well.

I thought that the RMs used 85° chemicon bulk and Capxon filters??

Correct. It also uses capxon secondary caps. I'd just stay away from the RM series.

@H4X3R What's a good full-modular PSU @ $90-100 then?

I"m looking for a good full modular unit that will comes with a buyable cable set so I can learn to sleeve.

EVGA G2 series. Quite under-rated. Quality is among the best, competing with seasonic. Has a 10 year warranty, so that definitely says something.

Thats just from the top of my head, i'll find some more abd edit this post.

I can go 650W max because this is for a 7850K build and that'll be extremely overkill at best.

I need full modularity for learning to sleeve. I checked out the NEX650G (V2 actually, V1 is now discontinued and replaced with all-black cables and connections), but even though it has Chemicon caps it's on Aurum and has terrible regulation.

My usual goto in the 550W range is the Seasonic G Series 550W. Great Series. However it isn't fully modular. XFX rebranded the G Series as the XTR Series, which is fully modular, so see if you can find a 550W or 650W version. Better than the RM Series.

@daemonowner Really?! I didn't know that the XTR is based on G series. If so that's really good news! I would take the XTR over the RM550, Power Zone 650 and NEX650G any day; even my lowly S12II TS550 is fantastic and I would definitely buy XFX again knowing that all their PSUs are Seasonic rebranded.

My go-to budget PSU is also the G series, but it's not full modular and as far as I know I don't want to mess up and have to deal with Seasonic's terrible RMA process. Do you know if XFX sells a cable set for the XTR?
