Just wondering if any of you guys have been using Samsung smartphones for while (which ones) and how has the long-term durability been? E.g. does the software get laggy/buggy after 1.5-2 years and how's the battery life etc? Anything else unexpected happen to alter use/enjoyment?

My S10e still works fine.

My S24 also still works fine.

Dunno how related this is but my grandparents have two Samsung tablets (not sure on the exact models). But they're 10 years old this year and only recently stopped getting app store updates. As for OS updates, I don't really know, but probably no more than 3-5 years on that end. Battery life for both is actually still quite good. One tablet still holds a normal charge at 100% battery health, the other is at 80% battery health. But they take great care not to over charge them, and always shut them off at night before bed.

But speaking to the phone side, 3-5 years does also seem to be the average life span of both OS and battery. Although I got 10 years out of my old iPhone 6s so anything is possible.

Have a Tab S8. Released Feb 2022, bought Oct 2022. It's continued to get software updates in that time and works much the same now as it did then, even with major updates changing the look and feel a little. To be honest I don't like Samsung software but it was the best hardware I could reasonably get at the time. This model gets 5 years of security updates by which time the hardware might be getting tiered anyway. I still got nearly 2 years of security updates left.

Gaming system: R7 7800X3D, Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming Wifi, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB, Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB 6000C30, MSI Ventus 3x OC RTX 5070 Ti, MSI MPG A850G, Fractal Design North, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, Alienware AW3225QF (32" 240 Hz OLED)
Productivity system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, 64GB ram (mixed), RTX 4070 FE, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, iiyama ProLite XU2793QSU-B6 (27" 1440p 100 Hz)
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

What don't you like about Samsung software? That's a complaint I've been reading about over the years regarding their UI and their own software/programs.

Put it under "personal preferences" as I like the stock Google experience myself. There's just software that feels duplicative of Google's, as well as other features I don't use or care about. So I have to work to disable/turn off as much of that as I can.
