Dont worry about 'bottlenecking'   Its very misunderstood from beginners or novices that don't exactly know how it works.

You'll be fine 🙂

Budget (including currency): 500-600$ maybe

Country: Türkiye

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080p Gaming for now an upgrade to 1440p later down the line.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a 5600x, 16 gigabytes of 3200 Mhz ram 850W psu and a RX 6700XT. Currently using a 1080p 144hz Monitor. Could upgrade to a 1440p dual monitor setup in the future.

Your system is actually quite balanced!

I would recommend a faster GPU since you are upgrading to 1440p soon that will be more GPU demanding.

Next would maybe be a 5700X3D if you want to extend the life of your AM4 system.

And then maybe 32GB of RAM.

Honestly 6700 XT is already 1440p card if you're not playing brand new unoptimized AAA games (-that need performance upscaling just to reach 60fps on RTX 4090)

Which motherboard?

You can eventually get 5700x3D, which then can allow you to get more fps now or later regardless. Stronger CPU good for 1080p, not bad for 1440p, and def not bad when upgrading GPU already having fast CPU.

5700x3D speed is approx ~= Ryzen 5 7600, so it's worth saying such CPU could last a while.

And it's not really that much more powerful than 5600x, which is already 65-105W TDP CPU, 5700x3D is 105W TDP. - So for gaming you don't really need better cooler for 5700x3D if you're not using stock and even stock would work. And if it's not barebones minimal motherboard it can also easily handle 5700x3D.

Feel free: To ask any question, no matter what question it is, I will try to answer. I know a lot about PCs but not everything.

current PC:

Ryzen 5 5600 |16GB DDR4 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti [further details on my profile]

PC configs I used before:

  1. Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050
  2. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050
  3. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz | 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti

I thought 6700XT could do 1080p ultra gaming but when I played some newer games eg. GOW Ragnarok, Cyberpunk 2077, or Spider-Man 2 it could’nt do stable fluent(min 60 fps) gaming in mid to high graphics so I’m not sure

Motherboard is a B550 but I dont really want to get a new cpu without upgrading the platform because the cpu prices are pretty close with old and new generations.

Could I upgrade my GPU and and stick with 1080p for the close future for now or should I make moving to 1440p my priority?

You can definitely upgrade the GPU and stick with 1080p if you want, there is no requirement to move to 1440p 🙂

You should still see a decent uplift in performance in GPU demanding games like GOW Ragnarok and Cyberpunk 2077.

Yeah thanks for the reply I was just worried about a potential bottleneck I dont have that much information about that.

With RT enabled or not? Because that's a big difference.

6700 XT shouldn't struggle too much, especially on 1080p, it will only struggle with unoptimized graphically intensive games (so everything that's 3-4 years old or less) and Ray Tracing.

Have you got PBO and all that fancy stuff turned on on your 5600x?

I would honestly try just optimizing your graphics settings a little bit more - follow Digital Foundry's optimization guides. I don't know about Spider-Man 2 (which seems to just be a totally busted PC port) but even significantly weaker cards than the 6700 XT can get a good 60 fps experience in Cyberpunk and GOW Ragnarok.

Also, if you're basing this evaluation on a frame time graph or watching the 1% lows in an overlay like Afterburner, I'd strongly recommend turning that off and just playing the game for a while (with a capped frame rate that you can consistently hit, like 60). Do you actually notice frame drops with the naked eye? If not, don't worry about it, it's not a real performance issue.

I'm having more fun than you 😠
