Hello all!

Recently I got a laptop (Thinkbook 16p Gen 6) that seems to not be officially released yet (bought from a second-hand app), when checking the specs, the GPU just appears as "NVIDIA Graphics Device", after investigating it seemed to be a RTX 5060 Mobile so I waited until drivers released yesterday. I installed them using nvcleaninstall, as using normal method didn't detect the GPU as compatible, but something seems to not work correctly at all.

Before installing the latest drivers, I installed the ones that came from the laptop in the hard drive (unsigned 571.31 beta drivers) and tried to do some tests, in Unigine Heaven DirectX 11 performace was horrible, like 7fps @1080p, but when using OpenGL performance was better, but not what I would expect (35~50fps). In both cases GPU-Z shows 100% GPU usage, but temperature doesn't raise a lot (stays around 60ºC). After installing the 576.52 drivers, there are no changes at all in performance.

What made me suspect it was a RTX 5060 Mobile is the device ID, it's 10de-2d2c, and here is showing as GB6-128 plus HWInfo identifies it as GB206 GPU. The thing is that the specs shown in GPU-Z doesn't match at all with any GPU that I can find in Techpowerup's database.

Is there any way I can make this GPU work fine, or to at least identify which one is it? Any other ideas of what can I do with it?

I think you got a engineering sample. That or well 5060 mobile laptops just started rolling out. This one doesnt officially exist yet either.

Id say fresh install and just install lenovo vantage and see what drivers that grabs.

Defo a stolen device tho so be carefull.

Already tried with Lenovo Vantage and doesn't find anything.

I just found out about this: https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkBook_16p_G6_IAX?tab=spec

I think they just put that page live because I couldn't find it a couple of days ago, it says it can be a RTX 5060 or RTX 5070.

Also, I did run Furmark tests, they run fine because they're not DirectX:

OpenGL - 7884 - 131 FPS

Vulkan - 7801 - 129 FPS

Do I have any chance of getting this to work fine with DirectX apps?

Patience Id say. They only JUST NOW put the pages online and these probably only just now started shipping out since nvidia wants to hide their 8gig cards.

Try in a week or 2 again when theres like actual pages for these devices. They most definitly arent ready for the limelight now

Could be it never works as this is most likely a engineering sample or else a stolen early stock. Either way you got something before it was ready and now you need patience.

I'll wait patiently. As you say, when proper support webpages are online maybe I can grab correct drivers from there, but being a engineering sample I'm not sure if it will ever work correctly. Anyways it's a good piece of hardware even I cannot use the discrete GPU properly.

Thank you for your responses!
