KVM Advice

Go to solution Solved by esCaPade1,

Hi. I have one of these and it works great:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CFFFHFJT

Maybe slightly over spec, but leaves room for upgrades. I also tried a cheaper one that sucked.

Budget (including currency): £100-£300

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Switching between Lenovo X1 carbon and gaming system desktop

Other details

I'm looking fo a kvm that can switch between a work laptop connected currently via a think pad docking station to a 144hz 1080p monitor. I want to simplify the process as I'm currently having to manually remove the keyboard and mouse and plug it back into the dock each time I use it.

I'm looking for a KVM that can handle 144hz 1440p monitor DP for my gaming rig, HDMI for the laptop and use the nzxt mic and a separate headset. Any and all suggestions are very welcome 🙏

I was going to post a link to the one I've been using, but the one that esCaPade1 posted has better specs overall.

Funny reading reviews for the one I have. One guy complained because it only worked when both computers were on...

HUH?? if the computer is off, what's it gonna switch too?

Man, that sucks.

That one is better than the one I'm using but they don't ship to the U.S.  😞

It is an Amazon UK link. Try searching for the same product on your local site.

@esCaPade1

Just did, no luck.

The best they offer for U.S. doesn't have DP, only HDMI and the specs aren't as robust. Plus it costs $90.

The one I'm using was only $20.

That's unexpected, but I don't know the company very well. This is my first buy from them - it seems pretty good quality.

I am fairly sure you'll be able to find one better than the one you have if it was only $20! 😁

@stethesnake I missed that you were looking for HDMI for the laptop! Get yourself a DP-HDMI adaptor, or a DP-HDMI cable.

Honestly I have 0 complaints about my $20 KVM, it does what I need and I get 1440p @ 165hz no problem.

Just wish it had DP.
