Hi guys,

Quite desperate here...

Recently upgraded my pc, however I was still using my older 2.5m ssd as the boot device for windows.

I wanted to make my new m.2 ssd the new boot device so I read that it would be best to do a clean install on it via a USB flashstation. The m.2 is completely empty and I was able to choose it to install windows on. However after reaching 100% on the install my pc restarts and I just go straight back to the screen where you choose the language etc and the location install screen afterwards, where I can see that in fact it did install certain things. (Partition 1 300MB System, Partition 2 MSR 16MB, Partition 3 917.8 GB out of 929.7 GB available.

In the BIOS the m.2 is not listed in the boot device priority list.

Another issue now as well is that I can't even launch windows via my old 2.5m ssd. Where my pc just keeps restarting after the screen with the motherboard logo.

I've also tried:

- removing and reinstalling the media tool from my USB flashdrive and tried the whole process again with the same result

- The startup repair tool

Anyone that knows this issue and perhaps how to solve it?

Thank you in advance and definitely let me know if you need more information

Leave the 2.5" SS drive inside the PC but disconnect the SATA data cable. Then try installing Windows onto the M.2 drive. That way the M.2 drive will become the C drive. After everything is good with the install. You can shut down and reconnect the 2.5" data cable. It should become drive D or a different letter depending on if you have a DVD ROM or something else.

Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem. I assume the cause of my issues is that I didn't disconnect my 2.5m ss drive when trying to do a clean install on my m.2. I've been trying to look for solutions but without succes 😕

Try using a 2.0 USB port.

Didn't work. Same issue pc is restarting after the install reaches 100% and then just goes back to the first step of installing windows

Appreciate your suggestions

An interruption of internet connectivity can cause Windows install to fail. Web search "How to Install Windows 11 without Internet" Or download the Windows ISO file and use Rufus to create an install off of a USB drive.

Hey I tried with tge Windows ISO file as well as many other things like trying to manually bootfix and make partitions in CMD for example, BIOS update... all without succes and still stuck at the same problem. Windows installs till 79% ish then my pc restarts and ends up at the first step of the install again. Im guessing at this point something is wrong with the m.2 SSD or with the usb flash drive I don't know. I've ordered a new m.2 and usb flashdrive and will try again tomorrow. Next step is probably a new motherboard...

So strange because my pc worked perfectly fine with my older 2.5m ssd with windows on it (as a reminder this one now also doesn't work anymore to boot windows)
