If I get a imac with 256gb of ssd storage, can I use the 512gb ssd I have right now as a boot camp drive?

Clarification: use the original 256gb ssd as a Mac OS X drive, and use an external ssd(usb3) as a boot amp drive to run windows.

Is it possible?

Is Windows bootable from USB drive? I doubt it (at least not without workarounds)
