I want to install Bazzite Linux on my gaming PC and use it as my daily OS when Windows 10 officially reaches its end-of-life. My GPU is an 8GB AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP, and I'm kind of a complete noob when installing GPU drivers.

Any drivers I should install for my specific GPU in Bazzite?

Bazzite has all the stuff needed for radeon GPUS, though polaris drivers are sometimes lacking. When you get the ISO image, just select desktop>AMD and it should have the drivers for the RX 400 series and RX 500 series right out of the box

AMD GPU drivers are inbuilt into the kernel itself. The RX 580 should run out of the box. This is the beautify of Linux that most drivers come built into the kerne itself (although I personally don't like it and prefer the kernel package to be less bloated).

PLEASE MARK COMMENTS AS SOLUTION IF SATISFIED!!

bigger number better, makes me look cooler.

Full disclosure, I don't think Linux has any place on the desktop for a gaming PC but once a year or so, I install it just to poke around and make sure I still feel the same way.

A couple of weeks ago I installed CatchyOS  on my second/testing rig (5800x/RX6600/3440x1440 display) with the goal of getting into some gaming. I figured I'd use the ProtonDB for some Platinum rated games for the best chances of them just working and was pleasantly surprised.

Using CatchyOS's wiki, I ran their single command which added everything needed to run Steam. Logged in, made a couple tweaks in Steams setting according to the Wiki, downloaded Subnautica Below Zero and launched it without a hiccup. Surprisingly, only needed to touch the terminal once!

Depending on how often I need to open the terminal to do basic, should be point and click operations, that's how I judge how "normal people ready" linux is and while not quite there yet, for someone who can read, gaming was pretty easy.

I haven't attempted many other games, but as long as I stick to what ProtonDB says will work, i'm sure it'll be mostly ok. Now what happens when something you want to play doesn't work?

That's the rub... I'd rather just be on Windows.
